Canceled Courses
How does a canceled class change the Moodle course?
If a section is canceled, student enrollments are automatically removed from Moodle.
This means there are no students in a canceled course, so no one can see it except the teacher regardless of whether the course visibility is set to Show or Hide. There is no reason to worry about "deleting" a canceled course.
What can I do with a canceled course?
No action is required on the part of a teacher when a course or section is canceled. If they want to remove the course content, they can do this easily by doing a backup and restore. Click on the links below for detailed instructions:
Reassigned Courses
How does a reassigned class change the Moodle course?
Students remain in the same shell when the course CRN is reassigned. The original instructor is automatically unenrolled once the assigned instructor in Banner is changed and the new instructor is enrolled to the existing shell in Moodle automatically. If there is content within the course shell prior to the instructor change that same content will remain in the shell.
What can I do with a reassigned course?
If you know a course, that you are currently the instructor in, will be reassigned and you have imported and prepared content in the CRN already you can request a dev shell to move your content into. At the same time you can request the course be cleared out if you do not plan to share content with the new instructor. This is upon request only, as the ATC is not made aware when a course is reassigned and whether content should be moved out.
If you do not wish to keep a copy of that shell on Moodle you can take a backup of the course and store the backup of the course on your computer (see the link below).
What if a course was reassigned to me?
If you have received a course you should do the following:
- Ideally, confirm you are permitted to utilize any content that was left in the shell.
- Contact the ATC to request for the course full name and course short name are updated to your last name.
- Import any content you wish to add and prepare the course like normal.
