Using BryteWave and RedShelf to Access Course Textbooks from Moodle

How to integrate RedShelf as course materials in your Moodle Course

Last Updated: December 5th, 2024

Lane Community College's Bookstore has partnered with Follett and RedShelf to provide textbooks to students as eBooks on Follett’s holding site called BryteWave. Through BryteWave, students can access course textbooks electronically (ebooks).

If the publisher of the textbook you're using has an external site for course materials, such as assignments or quizzes, you may have additional setup instructions in order to utilize the publisher’s content and or activate grade book syncing between Moodle and the publisher's platform if supported (i.e. McGraw Hill, Connect, Pearson…)

To add BryteWave to your course, please follow these directions:

  1. Click on the toggle in the top right-hand corner to turn Edit mode on
  2. Scroll down to the week you want to add the BryteWave link to, and click on Add an Activity or Resource
  3. In the Activity menu, scroll till you find External Tool, select it and then add it.
  4. Name the activity “BryteWave ACCESS”. Alternatively, personalize the activity name to something more memorable to you and your students.
  5. Using the Preconfigured Tool, scroll through the menu and select BryteWave ACCESS
In the General section of the external tool settings change the preconfigured too drop down to BryteWave Access.
  6. Once you’ve finished changing the settings to your desire, scroll down and save the activity. The resource will provide a link to BryteWave’s holding site with the textbook(s) for your class.
