Changing your name in ExpressLane, Moodle, or Google Workpace

How to get your name changed in ExpressLane and on your student email account

NEW Name Changes: Change ExpressLane and Google Workspace names at the same time 

  1. Students go to Enrollment Services and Staff goes to HR: Request a name change. Present photo ID and proof of name change.

    THE FOLLOWING CHANGES WILL BE MADE BY ENROLLMENT SERVICES AND THE IT DEPARTMENT:
    1. Enrollment Services changes the student's name.
    2. Enrollment Services marks the current Google Workspace email address as non-preferred, or inactive, and they should uncheck "Display on Web".
    3. Enrollment Services updates Google Workspace. They will send the request to GWRequest.
    4. GWRequest updates or renames the Google Workspace account as appropriate.
    5. GWRequest emails the new email address (if any) for the student to Enrollment Services.
    6. Enrollment Services updates Banner with the new email address.
    7. Moodle is updated with information provided by Banner.
    8. Enrollment Services notifies the student.

  2. Once these steps are completed, your Google Workspace account name and your student email address will use your new name. This email address is now your preferred email in ExpressLane. Log onto Google and Gmail with your new account name. Your Account data is retained, no data transfer is required. 

OLD Name Changes: ExpressLane name was changed, but not the Google Workspace name 

  1. Students go to Enrollment Services and Staff goes to HR: Present photo ID. Request that your Google Workspace name be changed to match your name in ExpressLane.

    The following steps will be performed by student services and the IT department: 
    1. Enrollment Services marks the current Google Workspace email address as non-preferred, inactive, and they should uncheck "Display on Web".
    2. Enrollment Services updates Google Workspace. They will send the request to GWRequest.
    3. GWRequest updates or renames the Google Workspace account as appropriate.
    4. GWRequest emails the new email address (if any) for the student to Enrollment Services.
    5. Enrollment Services updates Banner with the new email address.
    6. Enrollment Services notifies the student.

  2. Once these steps are completed, your Google Workspace account name and your student email address will use the same name as ExpressLane. This email address is now your preferred email in ExpressLane. Log onto Google and Gmail with your new account name. Your Account data is retained, no data transfer is required. 

OLD Name Changes: ExpressLane name was changed, but not Moodle 

Moodle is updated with information provided by Banner for students actively taking credit classes or current employees. If you are not currently enrolled or employed, contact moodleadmin@lanecc.edu to have any name updates applied manually.
