Accessing Online Canvas Training for Faculty

Learn how to access essential asynchronous Canvas training resources designed specifically for faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Beginner level

Beginner-level training can be found in the Growing With Canvas course found directly in Canvas. Training includes topics such as:

  • Navigating Canvas
  • Communication Tools
  • Configuring Courses
  • Course Design Features such as the Syllabus page, Modules, Announcements, and more.
  • Building content such as pages, discussions, assignments, rubrics, and quizzes.
  • Gradebook, Groups, collaborations, and sharing content between courses and instructors.

Intermediate to Advanced

Those interested in finding more in-depth training on different aspects of teaching with Canvas have access to the Training Services Portal. It not only includes beginner-level courses but also more advanced topics. To access are start taking these trainings, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to canvas.lanecc.edu
  2. Access the Help button in the left-hand Global Navigation at the bottom.
  3. Select Training Services Portal

  4. Select Authorize.

  5. Filter by Higher Education using the tab at the top middle of the page.

  6. Review areas such as Building Block Basics and Classroom Application towards the bottom.

We recommend Building Block Basics for beginner-intermediate instructors and Classroom Application for intermediate-advanced instructors.
